Shakespeare Meets Thor

Kenneth Branagh directing Thor? That is a fascinating choice to me. I respect that Branagh for his love of Shakespeare. I'm a big Shakespeare fan as well. His possibly directing the Thor movie has me curious. Is it because all of the "thee" and "thou" that Thor slings around in his dialogue? Is that why Branagh seems like a good choice? Aside from that, they have also mentioned the approach they're taking with the movie. Thor isn't the perspective character of the story, at least not the earthly part of it. He comes in out of nowhere and starts cleaning up all of the villains in town. Now everyone starts wondering whether he is crazy or if he really is a thunder god. This is a nod to the version of Thor from the alternate "Ultimate" continuity of comics from Marvel. It's a good move to try to make Thor fit in a world where fantasy is not prevalent, a world where the Avengers will soon exist. With the exception of Thor, all of the members of the original Avengers were based on science fiction. I've got a good feeling about this movie.

Getting our comic out there has taken more time than expected. I was able to do five pages a week without a sweat before the past couple of weeks. Ever since I started to stop being a hermit and try to concentrate on my schoolwork, it's been harder to balance. So you might have noticed the last few of weeks have been 4 pages instead of 5. I don't want to blame the busy schedule on the problem. It's not that busy. What it has been more of is that fact that I've needed a break. I had two pages ready but I didn't like them. I've only put out one page that I don't really care for and if I put a little more time in it now, it would probably look fine. The new pages that I had lacked enthusiasm. By taking a short pseudo-break, I've been able to find that passion again. That, and Lackadaisy has inspired me. It is much, much darker than Rocket Llama, but I feel like they came out of the same school with the same degree but took slightly different paths. Both comics are historical and have casts of anthropomorphic characters. I will admit that Lackadaisy looks WAY better than our comic right now. I'd like to think that is because it gets updated pretty infrequently compared to our assault of content that we try to put out there every day. Still, she's won awards and stuff. I'm going to try to see if I can contact her for an interview, but she's very pretty and talented so I'm intimidated because I don't want to look stupid. I want to try to be suave and intelligent. If you're reading this, Tracy, just ignore that last part. See, an interview hasn't even started and I'm stumbling over words.

This week we're going to get back on track with our Wrath of the Lich King content. I'm going to start my epic 3-part "Meet the Death Knight" series of articles, and Alex is going to bring you the "Meet the Mage" article on Thursday. Tuesday you'll be getting another Action Flick Chick movie review with a horror twist of some sort. I'm not sure what it is, but she definitely knows.
